THE Parfum Edition

I closed my mouth and spoke to you in a hundred silent ways
— Rumi

Did you know scent is the sense most powerfully connected to memory and emotion?

I'm a smell-good girly—one good scent can turn my whole day around. There’s no such thing as being sad after spraying your favorite perfume. Honestly, it’s easier, more effective, and definitely safer than Xanax, lol.

One of my favorite things to do is engage my senses—I’m obsessed with the layers and complexity in scents, tastes, and sounds. You don’t have to spend a ton to smell amazing either; there are plenty of yummy fragrances for around $25 (Phlur’s “Vanilla Skin” is a perfect example).

Here’s a few of my current & OG faves:

Nishane “Hundred Silent Ways” $370

Top: tuberose - mandarin - peach / Heart: white jasmine - gardenia - orris / Base: vanilla - sandalwood - vetiver

This scent has gotten me more compliments than any other I’ve ever worn. It’s beautiful and subtle—light on the initial nose, but once it sinks into your skin, it has real staying power. I love when a scent has longevity; it makes the price tag totally worth it.

Byredo “Bal D’Afrique” $320

Top: African marigold - bergamot - buchu / Heart: cyclamen - violet / Base: cedar wood - vetiver

Ughhhhh, this one is so good—sexy and spicy! I don’t hear enough people talking about Bal D’Afrique. Whenever Byredo comes up, it’s always their other scent, “Mojave Ghost.” Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice, but it’s definitely hit peak market saturation—seems like everyone wears it. I’m more into exclusive scents myself.

“Rose of No Man’s Land” and “No Name” are two of my other underrated faves from the brand.

Bond No. 9 “Greenwich Village” $470

Top: lychee - cassis - mandarin / Heart: water lily - peony - jasmine / Base: praline - musk - vanilla - oak moss

I’m not the biggest Bond No. 9 fan anymore—after burning out my nostrils on their intense scents in my 20’s—but this one is different. It delivers a rich fragrance without that harsh alcohol punch. It transitions effortlessly from day to night and actually lasts from day to night too.

Initio “Paragon” $410

Top: lavender - sage - bergamot / Heart: plum - palo santo - black pepper / Base: sandalwood - oud

The word I’d use to describe this scent? Enchanting. You can smell every note working together in perfect harmony. I walked into a restaurant while wearing this and a man told me I looked like I had a radiant light around me—then he guessed three of the exact notes in the fragrance: lavender, palo santo, and sage. I couldn’t believe a scent could spark all that, but hey, I’m into it.

Mind Games “Queening” $395

Top: cotton accord - cypress - apple / Heart: orris - rum - saffron / Base: vanilla bean - musk - coconut

Queen energy—that’s exactly what this scent gives. I’m a big vanilla girly, and this one delivers. It has a hint of marshmallow, but not in a childish way where you smell like a s’more, rather in a sexy way where you smell like a snack ;-)

Clive Christian “Queen Anne Cosmos Flower” $580

Top: lemon - mandarin - apple / Heart: cocoa - rose - neroli / Base: sandalwood - vanilla - leather

The name on this one is deceiving—you’d expect something soft and floral, but nope. It’s actually a little fruity, and a whole lotta sexy. The combo of rose, lemon, and leather gives it a sultry edge that’s hard to forget. It’s giving cosmic bondage, lol. Plus, it lasts all day without losing its edge. Absolutely obsessed.
